Trevor Woods
Trevor was born in Maidstone, Kent, in 1974 and moved with his family to Norfolk in 1977. He has always had a keen interest in painting and design, but it was not until 2001 that he was able to realise his ambitions and began to paint in his spare time and sell his work locally. Over the next couple of years, he developed a very distinctive style and the skill of breaking down what he sees in everyday life into shapes and bold colours. Finding it increasingly difficult to devote enough time to painting, he decided to become a freelance artist in 2004 and has not looked back since!
Working in acrylic and ink, his graphic style is winning him much acclaim and has resulted in his paintings being commissioned and purchased for private collections in this country and abroad. His paintings are proving to be enormously popular. Strong graphic representations of instantly recognisable scenes without the every-day clutter branching the link between a distinctive modern style and familiar views.
Trev's fresh approach encourages the observer to look at every-day views in a new light; they are drawn to the clean lines, flat colours and dark shadows that make up each image. Every painting evolves from his ability to look at a view and then break it down into its raw elements; it is more about what he leaves out than what he includes.
His paintings mostly depict his local area, North Norfolk, but he also greatly enjoys the complete contrast of painting London and other city scenes, all of which provide an endless source of inspiration.
